Tallinn Old Town & medieval churches
Tallinn is one of the oldest medieval European cities - city of the Hanseatic League and a gem on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Visitors are enchanted by the narrow winding streets, cobbled pavement, towering ramparts of the picturesque Old Town, the winding alleys overhung with original 12th and 13th century - a spirit of the merchant's houses, barns, warehouses and perfectly preserved medieval church. We start the tour from Upper Town Toompea, see the Toompea Castle where now is seat of Parliament House, visite the Russian Ortodox church - Alexander Nevski Cathedral, Dome Cathedral one of the oldest and most important churches in Estonia. You will see picturesque panorama of the Lower Town with its church spires and sharp gables of buildings on the viewing platform.
After that we continue our trip to lower town into the heart of the old town along Short Leg Street, we go to the Niguliste Church and see the fragment of Bernt Notkes 15th-century masterpiece, Dance Macabre. Then we continue our trip into the heart of the old town go in Town Hall, Great Guild House, the house of the Brotherhood of the Blackheads, walk along Rae Pharmacy and visit Holy Ghost Church on a Long Leg Street. You see building of the Russian Embassy in Jungent style, Vanaturu kael (old market place), Katarinas arts and crafts Gateway where you can enjoy time holding medieval guild traditions, town wall, Viru Street the artery of the City with many shops and cafes.
